A Rule Against Murder by Louise Penny

4.0

This is the fourth book in the series and they definitely need to be read in order. Chief Inspector Armand Gamache and his wife of 30 years, Reine-Marie, are enjoying a break at the Manoir Bellechasse, a country inn that they've been going to for many years. There is another family there - the Finney family, an extended family there to celebrate their father's birthday. But Gamache gets a really odd feeling from the family - there are undercurrents of all sorts of tension. One family member is killed in a very gruesome way and luckily Gamache is already on the spot to investigate. We learn a lot of Gamache's family history in this book, and get a closer look at the beautiful relationship he has with his wife. I'm so glad I discovered this series.
