V is for Virgin by Kelly Oram

2.0

Have you ever read a book or watched a movie/TV show where you just can't handle the cheesiness? It's so over-the-top that at certain points it's almost cringe worthy? Kind of like those Hallmark Christmas movies where you get sucked in and then can't help but wonder why you're watching it? Well, that's how I felt about this book.

Now, I tend to be a bit of a contradictory person. I hate when books/movies/TV shows have one bad thing after another bad thing after another (kind of like The Vampire Diaries) but at the same time, I hate when everything is tied up nicely and wrapped in a bow (like the Hallmark Christmas movies). V is for Virgin definitely fell toward the Hallmark movie side of the scale. The book started off strong - Valerie the main character gets dumped because she won't have sex with her boyfriend. I thought it was awesome that Valerie stood up for herself but then things quickly got boring from there.

I hide the spoilers as to not ruin it for anyone but everything about this book was all rainbows and sunshine
SpoilerFrom the fact that Valerie's ex-boyfriend wanted to get back together to the fact that she caught the eye of a hot/famous rock star. Said hot/famous rock star was a bit of a whore but 4 years (yes, years) after Valerie and him stop talking, he decides to give up his whorish ways so he can be with Valerie. Then let's not forget that Valerie's suddenly thrust into the popular crowd, ends up dating the hottest guy in school (who is also a virgin) and then they amicably end up breaking up. Oh and she also manages to get a jewelry line - her dream job. All because she declared to the world that she was a virgin.
It's all just a little bit unbelievable if you ask me.

Anyway, I could go on and on and on. Long story short, this was not the book for me.
