The Carrow Haunt
by Darcy Coates
I wasn't expecting greatness here, just an entertaining ghost story. In the end, it was fine, but I felt like this book had a lot of missed opportunities to create a more compelling story.
But what honestly irked me the most was the lack of attention detail throughout. "It's the most haunted house in the state." What state? Where are we? What is the atmosphere exactly? I also couldn't stand how the author kept switching from English terms to American-English terms. It kind of took me out of the book. Are we in the States? If so, it's called a flashlight (not a torch) and distance would be measured in miles.
I think another once over by an editor would have been a boon here for the finer details.
