I didn’t want to like this book but what got me was harper and the entire benevolence town! the raunchy sex scenes were a bit much for a girl that loves fluff and romance. harper and gloria deserve all the happiness in the world. luke needs a really good therapist. I guessed right off the bat that he had lost his wife and since harper had been through so much in her life, I don’t think she would’ve had a hard time understanding that he didn’t know how to be with someone who wasn’t karen. for most of the book it felt like luke was using harper as a warm body, while still holding a place open for his dead wife. she was constantly open and vulnerable with him but he couldn’t even tell her his favorite color. in the end, the threat of losing her forever finally made him man up and face his fears. the scene of him talking to karen’s gravesite then later on taking harper back home and revealing the framed photo of her (karen), alongside the photo of harper with her parents… it won me over.
