“Then she handed [the phone] back to me. There was a new contact.

‘Veronica Clarke. Abortion friend,’ I read, unamused.”

Given current events concerning Roe v. Wade, I thought this was the perfect book to reread. I'm not going to get on a soapbox so you can relax if you were about to be triggered.

I first read this book about two years ago. It wasn’t even on my TBR but a skip-the-line loan at the library when I was mindlessly browsing. I read it in one night because I couldn’t put it down. It is one of the funniest books I’ve ever read. All the cheesy and witty banter, eccentric characters, and chaos still make me laugh to this day.

What I appreciate is how determined Veronica is to get the abortion. She had the usual debate and stigma running through her head but she was very headstrong about getting it. And despite running into many complications along the way, she wasn't so much deterred. The book focused more on the chaotic road trip and complicated (ex-)friendship between Veronica and Bailey as well as their own identities. There isn't much of a social agenda or morality debate really brought up, but those are some of the obstacles that hinder them.
