Lock and Key
by Sarah Dessen
My first read of 2018, and I read this one compulsively until I was done (across two days). This was a pretty sad read, although it had heaps of heart-warming moments. I really felt sad for Nate in particular, though of course many of the characters had woes to contend with.

About the ending:
Spoiler
It had a sort-of happy ending I suppose, though it could have been more robustly HEA I guess - but that would have been less realistic, really. I like to believe that things pick up where they left off for Ruby and Nate as they start university, and that their futures will be bright. I'm always one of those readers who craves actually seeing that happening for the characters, rather than having it left to her imagination. But at least there's the promise of it happening, in this case.I'm loving my Sarah Dessen reads. Now, what to read next?!
