I just finished the #graphicnovel Trese: Volume 1, Murder on Balete Drive. Fans of the TV shows Grimm and Buffy, the Vampire Slayer and the graphic novel Watchmen will enjoy this supernatural crime series featuring creatures from Filipino mythology. I love that at the end of each issue (four in this collection), there's a case file for the creatures encountered in the story.
Apparently, it's been sort of an underground hit in the Philippines for many years now and not only did it finally get US distribution (via Ablaze Publishing) but it'll be coming to Netflix as an animated series.
I already can't wait to read more! Volume 2 of Trese comes out June 2, 2021.
