This has become one of my favorite cozy mystery series. I adore the main character, Vera, and her sense of humor! She is unmatched and unique! I enjoy how Jesse Sutanto has a diverse, likable set of characters in her books. Although the theme within this book was heavier than your average cozy mystery, it offered a unique storyline that made me feel compassion towards some of the characters. My only con was that there was a little more language (cursing) than I would have liked compared to the first book, and at times I didn't see it as necessary or helpful towards the story.

Overall, this was a great read and if there is more to come I'll be waiting to read. ❤️
