Homicide and Halo-Halo was another fun installment in this series. I didn’t love this as much as the first book, I felt that the mystery plot was a little overshadowed by some of the drama between Lila and other characters. I did still enjoy it, especially seeing Lila begin to work through her trauma with the help of her friends and family. I also thought the pageant was interesting, especially with the politics and change that was happening around it. The mystery element was definitely still there, but it felt like it was happening more in the background at times. While it wasn’t as strong as the first book, I still had fun with this book and I am looking forward to the next one!
