Booktok made me read it. Don't get me wrong: I appreciate good smut. I LOVE smut in my contemporary romances. But this was just over-the-top campy and the writing felt juvenile to read (although the spicy scenes were very much not). It took me one sitting to finish this, not because it was good, but because I could not, for the life of me, accept why this book merited 4 to 5 stars from other readers. My pride could not let it go. I wanted so badly for there to be some sort of saving grace at the end, just so I could tell myself, "Congrats, it's not a bad book after all! Booktok was right!" It was 250+ pages of cringe and half a day of my life I'm never getting back.

But no. Booktok was NOT right. I'm never trusting Booktok again.
