It's been a while since I read Gamer Girl and I loved that book. Decided to try this and it did not disappoint! If you aren't a gamer, then this book may not be for you. The gamer lingo and references will fly over your heads. BUT I loved the references! Mario Kart? Sonic the Hedgehog? Yaass, Ms. Lu! You know wassup! HOWEVER, there are downsides, like the romance (minus a star for that). Not necessary, IMO.
Also, that twist at the end. Yep, saw it coming, though I HATE that the love interest becomes what I call a "Frozen" twist. Just like what they did to Hans is messed up, what happens to Hideo is just as messed up (minus a star for that), Seriously. And it reminds me of "Shatter Me" a bit, and I LOATHE that book. The MC is a great hacker (a little too good, IMO) and I don't like reinforcing the "Asians are super smart, techie/math whiz" stereotype. Plus the fact that she dyes her hair crazy colors (not hatin' on rainbow, btw, cuz rainbow's the best color to dye one's hair), the tattoos, and her criminal record adds to the "hacker" stereotype (or maybe that's just me).
Anyways, it ends in a cliffhanger and I'll definitely be reading the next one.
