This book stood out as a refreshing break from the all too familiar dull, gritty batman books that merge into one over time. As a relative newcomer to Morrison, not being overly impressed with his works, I thoroughly enjoyed this fun, quirky tale. Whilst not making complete sense at all points, the concept alone sells the book. It was a brilliant experience guessing which wacky scenario batman would be placed in next, from caveman to witch hunter, Morrison effectively captures the time periods with age old tropes that come off as charming and funny, rather than annoying. The future stuff with the rest of the justice league felt very convoluted, but the rest of the book was entertaining enough to distract me from it. The artwork, imagining Bruce in his various period costumes was hilarious and very compelling.
Overall, this was a great, fun break from the all too usual gritty batman. A must read for anyone wanting a bit of a change from the usual.
