Safe Surrender by Meg Elison

A human-alien hybrid goes looking for their birth parents. It's the subtlety and world-building details I liked best about this: how early AIs are programmed to respond in ways that will pacify humans; that the narrator can't get a full log of their DNA because most sequences are shared with others; the little ways that prejudice can creep into a life.
