2666 by Roberto Bolaño

4.0

"2666" by Robero Balaño was originally intended to be 5 separate novellas but were combined into 1 book and published posthumously. You can tell. Translated from Spanish, Bolaño's prose is meticulous yet can be gripping. It can also be disturbing, especially the hundreds of pages detailing the discovery of dozens of murdered women. Those who prefer a traditional plot will be frustrated with the over 800 pages jumping between several characters. It's Bolaño's examination of violence and madness in western culture which is the appeal of "2666." It's certainly well written and worth the read, but it's not for everyone. #bookreview #simplebookreview #shortbookreview #2666 #robertobalaño #postmodernism #postmodern
