this book is wildly different from the tv series... in good and mostly not so good ways. i REALLY enjoyed Marillas inner dialogue in this book and i honestly think she grew more in the boook vs the show. there are some pretty stark differences with scenes and plots between the two and i definitely prefer the show more than the book. the book (a classic) has some REALLY oppressive language that i think the tv series was SO much more inclusive about. the book still keeps women small, even tho anne is breaking the glass ceiling. i felt like she definitely matured more in the book, but i enjoyed her free spirit in the show (it never really died out). the book also has a LOT of super flat characters and some even unnecessary. religion is HUGE in the book and shapes almost every conversation (negatively) that anne has with a character. overall, it's okayyyy... but there were quite a few things preventing a higher rating for me.
