Gut: The Inside Story of Our Body's Most Underrated Organ
by Giulia Enders
I'm not quite sure why this book has been hailed as superbly funny and well written. I thought it was interesting, but a rather traditional popular science take on its topic. It's a good story, and I understand its appeal--it is actually scientific, unlike 99% of the health literature out there--but it's not world literature. Also, you might think twice about the audiobook. I often listen to audiobooks if having lunch by myself. On two occasions I wish I hadn't. On the first one I was hearing about the consistency of feces and on the second, about the process of vomiting while chomping down on food. Nice.
