The Pattern Seekers: How Autism Drives Human Invention by Simon Baron-Cohen
informative
fast-paced
3.0
While I appreciate the author's neuropositive stance in this book - and I truly felt he was well-intentioned - it was ultimately not a very engaging read. As others have said it was very repetitive and could have been much shorter.
As I have read in other reviews (who do a better job at explaining than I ever could) his research is to be taken with a big grain of salt. It is definitely worth looking into.
I also felt like the systemizing quotient test was written in a way that would make men more likely to score higher than women (again asking questions about trains etc instead of topics that women tend to find more interesting but could still involve patterns).
I did enjoy his thoughts and suggestions on the school system.
