The Confessions by Saint Augustine

5.0

You'd hit the jack pot with this one if you wanted to read something peaceful. Even if you are not that into "Biblical talk" (you can skip those parts) this still remains a tantalizing read.

What I loved the most was the bare irony and the underlined humor that was waiting dormant behind the turnings of the phrase and the flickers of rhythm put together in a mesmerizing prose.

The rhetoric in it is an exemplary one, after which, one can guide oneself on the path of oratory.

In it you are going to find ideas that would circulate throughout the modern era as we know it and you'll be amazed of how contemporary can still be a work written over one thousand years ago.
