Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake
by Sarah MacLean
4.5 stars.
I had expectations going into this book which were completely disproved during the reading experience. I was impressed by how much I saw myself in this main character and, beyond this, how well those characteristics were explored. This was fun and full of the scandal the title indicates, but I have gained a different perspective on this seemingly empty-of-meaning title.
This featured a woman who was strong in her expression of vulnerability and was - to my surprise - emotional. I know some people will never find books such as these worthy of people's time, but I am grateful that for some reason I chose to read this book at a time in which I could connect to the subject matter in this way.
*NOTE - this does not mean it is a 'boring' or 'bland' book. It can be both within the romance genre and don't forget that!
