After a week or so to stew after reading it, I have to say that I'm *still* thinking about this book, and had to boost my rating from a 4 to a 4.5.
In the beginning, I found a bit of a struggle to follow the cadence in which the story was being told. There's a rhythm to it that sometimes feels breathless or there needs to be a pause but there isn't one.
I *adored* the characters in this story. The relationship between Anequs and her roommate reminded me a lot of the Wednesday TV show. Two very different people kind of wanting to be friends but unintentionally hurt each other.
I'm not a huge fan of Theod... I wish there was more time to see his character grow, and I honestly wasn't fond of the tone of voice the audiobook narrator chose for him, so I felt like I was distracted by that quite a bit. However, I am very interested in his story and how he will start to reconnect with his culture. I'm still not sold on Anequs' feelings towards him. I want her to be with Liberty! They have so much more chemistry.
