Major Misconduct is the first book in the Aces Hockey series from author Kelly Jamieson and is about the Chicago Aces ice hockey team members and the women they get hot and heavy with. Romances centered on the sport of hockey usually turn out to be good reads and this series starter employed the familiar and well-loved trope of falling for a best friend's sibling. I'm going to be honest here and admit that I didn't really like female lead character Lovey Armstrong until the end of the book. She was spoiled and immature and I honestly couldn't fathom what Marc saw in her aside from her physical beauty for a good portion of the story. She came off as flighty and indecisive and barely took anything or anyone seriously. Thankfully, Lovey did showcase redeeming qualities before I reached the point of no return and disliked her forever.
Speaking of redeeming qualities, the biggest reason I enjoyed this book was male lead charcter Marc Dupuis because he wasn't the typical pro athlete who used women and abused his standing in the sport. He loved playing hockey and wanted his teammates to be as focused as he was on winning each and every game. The attraction between him and Lovey was palpable and I was convinced that he had fallen in love with his best friend's sister. Out of all the characters in the story, Marc was the one that most deserved a happily-ever-after. While I may not have been a fan of Lovey's, I did appreciate that the story didn't go in the direction that I thought it was headed toward. Major Misconduct does its job in making readers curious about other Aces players and possibly have readers interested in the rest of this series. Four stars. ♥
