Sinners' Playground by Susanne Valenti, Caroline Peckham

adventurous emotional tense slow-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix
  • Strong character development? It's complicated
  • Loveable characters? It's complicated
  • Flaws of characters a main focus? Yes

4.5

this book brought fourth a whirlwind of emotions in me, and in true Twisted Sisters fashion, i know to keep going to get my promised HEA. but GAH was it difficult with this lot, don't get me wrong i love the characters and the storyline is definitely going somewhere, but i personally just get so irritated with certain character choices, plus i also think it was a mistake to read the novella first, because now all i can think about is the 5 kids who these lot are unknowingly internally trying to be, yet have changed so drastically it's impossible to achieve at this point, which makes me very sad for them and how circumstances went.

chase man, i wanted to shake the fucker! the portfolio stacking up against him was piling up (i bet in book 5 i'll love him tho πŸ’€) but gee he needs a quick turnaround
praying this "maverick and rogue had sex ten years ago" gets CLEARED UP.

jj was cool but i think i need more from him, maverick was practically non-existent - i liked him the most in the novella so i'm kinda holding onto that but his trauma has changed him, which was to be expected. foxxx 🦑, now don't hate me but i seriously liked him this book 🫠 i saw the reviews beforehand but he wasn't THAT bad imo, i am admittedly most excited to see how his character progresses, and i do unashamedly love him already 🫣
rogue!! i loved her and i'm so ready for her story over the next 4 more books, Mutt was the best and his bond with her was incredibly wholesome 🐾🫢 i also liked the girlfriends she managed to make too, i'm hoping they stay genuine to her 🀞

overall i'm pretty excited already and although i had a few minor irritations, it was a good book!!
