Thirteen Storeys by Jonathan Sims

I listened to the audio book, so my experience may be very different from those who read it. I know the author from his writing and voice-acting in the Magnus Archives, so I couldn't help myself. The voice-acting for this was truly fantastic. It was well directed and paced. I can definitely recommend consuming it that way.

I'm not sure I would have liked this as much if I had just read it. Essentially the book is a compilation of shorter horrors that tie together. I can say that I was very engaged and enthralled by each story. I'm not sure I felt the overall plot was strong enough throughout. There was a lot of information that was thrown in monologue style at the end.

That's not to say there was no connection between stories. And the beauty of this novel is that really it's about the feeling you get from each tale, the depth of each character, and understanding the metaphor of each of their experiences in relation to the overall plot.

The most important thing is that I enjoyed the ride and I was satisfied when it was over. Again, I'm not sure about reading it (maybe I'll give that a go in the future), but the audiobook is really an excellent experience I would recommend.
