This book succeeds so well for what it is. Like, yes, it is erotica. BUT the author does a really good job of setting the mood???
These are not just annoying characters in a blank space floundering from one non-descriptive location to another. These are mostly likable characters, with quirks and personalities, existing through the plot.
And the plot!! Look, it’s not Game of Thrones you guys, but if you’ve read shitty dark erotica, you know how lazy a plot can be. This is like, vaguely Lovecraftian with light BDSM. Her descriptions make you feel like you’re in this spooky little Cthulhu town with a goth girl.
And yes, the erotica is a 5/5.
I’m a little tentative to read the others in the series, as it seems they happen simultaneously and we sort of already know what’s going to go down in them. But it may be interesting to see this setting in a different POV. I def want to follow this author for their future projects!
