Shattered by Eisley Rose, Eisley Rose

Thank you to Eisley Rose for providing me with an ARC of this book. All opinions are my own.
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ (3/5 stars)
I was excited to continue The Glitched Series after reading the first book, but Shattered unfortunately didn’t land for me the way I had hoped. While I was eager to see where Alessa’s journey would take her, I struggled with the execution of the plot, pacing, and writing, which made it difficult for me to stay immersed in the story.
The pacing felt inconsistent, with moments that dragged and others that moved too quickly to fully absorb what was happening. The writing itself often felt disjointed, making it difficult to connect with the characters and their emotional arcs. While I appreciate complex storytelling, the plot twists felt more like abrupt swerves than carefully placed surprises, which made the story feel confusing rather than engaging.
Conceptually, this book had all the elements of something I would love—Spartan warriors, espionage, mythology, and high-stakes action. However, instead of feeling like a natural evolution of the first book, the execution of these ideas left me feeling more lost than intrigued. Normally, I have no problem suspending disbelief in fantasy and sci-fi, but something about this book made that difficult for me. Whether it was the writing style or the way the story was structured, I just couldn't immerse myself the way I wanted to.
While this book didn’t quite work for me, I do think fans of Glitched who were deeply invested in the first installment might find more to enjoy here. I hope the next book finds its footing and delivers a stronger continuation for the series.
