The Last Days of Jack Sparks by Jason Arnopp

4.25

Holy shit. So I feel like I need to do a spoiler free thoughts as a general statement and then I’ll do some post reading spoilers thoughts because so many thoughts and possibly questions

So…spoiler free first. It’s incredible how much you can hate a character but the plot wins you over and helps you finish it. Jack Sparks is an arrogant asshole who explains anything supernatural away with science. He makes a fool of himself more times than I can count, and he’s insufferable

During the first 3/4 of the book, the main thing that saves the plot are the characters that he interacts with. I would have given this a little higher of a score, but Jack being insufferable really made it hard. But the last 1/4 of the book really made it worth while

Okay so spoiler talk:
The last quarter of the book really gave this above a 4 rating for me. The full circle of some of the stuff Jack experienced and had happen made me gasp. The jar, I feel I almost cried over but then I realized that being washed out by salt means Jack’s sprit would finally be put to rest…I hope at least

I can’t believe his brother is going to make the same mistake Jack did…would he be on a different path now? Really makes you wonder
