The Unexpected Everything
by Morgan Matson
Hmmm.... I don't know how I fully feel about this story. Okay, so my favorite thing was the growth between Andie and her father. Morgan Matson is SO good at writing compelling parent and child storylines and dialogue and all that! Second favorite thing-Tom and Clark! What a beautiful bromance. Third favorite thing-Clark! Fourth favortite thing-Andie the dog walking. I adore the female friendships. When I think of how I wish my friendships could have been at that age this would be my number 2 or 3(?) ( My number one is The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants).
Now for my minuses. I felt a little uncomfortable with the high school aged kids being so focused on sex.I couldn't relate. At one point I thought that the plot's climax for Andie and her love interest was only leading up to that. It was a bummer. Andie was hard for me to like. I understand it was part of her character development, but it was frustrating. I was rooting for other characters more than I was rooting for her(?).
Morgan Matson did bring the feels, as she always does. One part really made my heart sink.SPOILER: It reminded me of the end of Mean Girls, just a smidge.
That's all my thoughts for now.
