I'm struggling a bit with this series so far. While conceptually I like what the story is doing and understand why many of the choices that are being made are being made, I continue to fail to feel connected to the characters as they progress. Even when I enjoy particular scenes or plot beats I feel a distance between myself and the characters that prevents me from feeling entrenched in the story. I am hoping if I push through it a bit I may end up feeling more connected to it because on a broad strokes level I am really intrigued by what's happening, but I worry it may just end up not being for me.
