Coming into this I was honestly expecting a very thrilling read since every review was RAVING about the pace and twists in this novel though I hate to say I was let down. Not to say that this book didn’t have alot of potential to me.
***SPOILERS START HERE***********
I can honestly say that about 1/3 into this book after the first twist is revealed that Ted is the first to die, I was very excited to see the turns it would take. It seemed like they were building to some sort of confrontation or twist involving Miranda and Lily but the twist was the same twist as before, that the person who least expected it was killed.
It seemed honestly rushed that Lily decided her solution was to just kill everyone involved. At this point in all honestly the book defintely lost me as we switched into the pov of Kimball. He was overall unlikable and I thought it was unnecassary that he be well introduced so late as the smoking gun to Lily?
I can say I was soooo looking forward to either an ending where Lily was successful or an ending where she was caught with absolutely everything but neither happened? I wanted every small detail to have resurfaced because they were always described as though you NEEDED to remember everything. It felt disingenuous that Lily was SO meticulous and smart with Chet and Eric but was totally sloppy with everything else. It absolutely did not sit right. How can you bring so many details up and then not see them through?..
Overall I felt as though so any things remained unused and not fleshed out enough but I enjoyed the characters of Miranda and Lily enough to still have a pretty good read for the two sections of the book so it sits at 2 stars for me. I don't feel particularly inclined to read the 2nd book just because I didn't end THIS read very intrigued and also the vast majority of reviews for the 2nd book said it was barely mediocre so I kind of want to save the parts of this book that I DID like.
