The Mother-in-Law
by Sally Hepworth
It’s hard to explain my feelings for this book because I am confused by the feelings myself. I read this book almost constantly the moment I started it. I finished it within 24 hours. However, I never felt like it was so good that I HAD to keep reading. I didn’t read fast like I do when the story is so good that I NEED to know what comes next. The story itself is great. It switches character perspectives and that will always be an A+ from me, but this book lacked something I cannot put my finger on! I am happy to have read it, and like I said the story itself is great. The story does go back and forth between the past and present, which I’m normally I’m not a fan of, and at first I thought it may make the book a DNF for me but the author made it WORK. The ending was not shocking at all but not necessarily predictable either. If you like quick reads and unpredictable stories, I do recommend this one.
