bro wtf wtf. THAT ENDING?????
okay i have recovered enough to write something cohesive.
loved this so much, definitely my favorite book so far. i was so looking forward to the whole gang together and interacting. i was a little bummed about the weird tension between all the boys, but it makes a lot of sense, especially given the leo and frank fire/sammy situation. speaking of, that flashback scene with hazel and leo was so beautiful and heartwarming. so interesting that their lives are intertwined like that. also it hopefully means that hazel and leo WONT date because that would be weird right? right??? i mean i wouldn’t date my ex boyfriend great grandson so. leo was also amazing this book. loved how much he cared about festus and argo ii. the bit about him always being the seventh wheel made me so sad, especially considering his issues with loneliness. i have high hopes that this will change next book. also hope the frank and leo situation is resolved, because they could be such an unstoppable team.
this book definitely cemented jason as my least favorite of the seven. he just… didn’t do anything? except get knocked out and claim to be the leader. i just think he’s a lil boring. love his relationship with piper, who’s THE BEST!!! she’s just so wonderful. i loved her fight with hercules and refusing to let him win. also the way that she made friends with those mermaids (that was my fav bit of the whole book love some bonding). she really grew so much and her taking charge at the end and saving percy and jason’s ass was so so good.
was sad about not seeing much hazel and frank. especially hazel, i wanted to see her perspective, especially given the nico thing. but i’m sure we’re gonna see a lot of them next book (but i’m also scared that means we won’t see leo as much and i can’t have that). oh the bit with frank asking annabeth how to solve the chinese finger trap was soooooo sweet i loved it. also loved how it came in the end and saved annabeth.
now on to percy and annabeth my loves. they were such a highlight in a kinda depressing book. they are soulmates man they love each other so much it’s incredible. and of course that means they have to go to tartarus together. i’m still just so mad/sad about that. i mean nico, a son of hades, barely survived tartarus, how tf are they gonna? i’m hoping them having each other will help keep them sane. ugh.
excited to see more nico in the next one. hopefully it means he willl finally talk about his feelings/traumatic experiences instead of just being emo the whole time.
