It’s so well paced and even when there’s parts being told out of chronological sequence there’s a specific reason they’re doing so. You really feel for Thorfinn and you see the imperfections of the adults around him so broadly. It’s a fascinating read. I’m glad watching the anime has brought me to read the manga.
Graphic: Confinement, Death, Emotional abuse, Gore, Misogyny, Physical abuse, Racism, Sexism, Slavery, Violence, Blood, Grief, Death of parent, Murder, Gaslighting, Colonisation, War, and Injury/Injury detail
Moderate: Animal death, Bullying, Domestic abuse, Misogyny, Torture, Trafficking, Kidnapping, Religious bigotry, Stalking, Abandonment, Alcohol, Sexual harassment, Colonisation, and Classism
The content warnings honestly all have to do with depicting society as things were in this historical era. There is some slight nudity paired with violence as well. Couldn’t find the specific trigger warnings on the listings there. It’s a great read.
