dlberglund 's review for:
In Real Life
by Cory Doctorow, Jen Wang
Our main character is a gamer who is recruited to join a guild in a MMO RPG game. While this is empowering (and perhaps a little addicting) for her, she is roped into some questionable activities. She is, in fact, as naive as her mother worries she will be online. Her worldview is blasted open when she starts to understand the real story of gold farmers. Her actions definitely fall into the white savior category, and the plot developments all tie up nicely like an afterschool special, but...it's still a reasonable intro to realities that younger readers may not be aware of.
