ADHD Is Awesome: A Guide to (Mostly) Thriving With ADHD by Penn Holderness, Kim Holderness
4.5
This was a fun read and, as a fellow ADHD-er who also has a partner keeping the train on the tracks, extremely relatable. Not surprisingly, it was a little all-over-the-place—especially on the earlier parts. But overall I think it was a good balance of amusing anecdotes and expert information.
When they get to the more pragmatic “how to manage ADHD” section, I found myself hating the book for the best of reasons. It gave me some tempting tips to try out in my own life when all I really want to do is bask in inefficiency and just hope I’m lucky enough to slip through life relatively unscathed. Who knows if they’ll work, but I’ll have to give them a shot now, lol. Thanks a lot, Holdernesses.
I’d recommend this to anyone with ADHD or who loves someone with ADHD (especially of you live together). It’s well-researched, nuances, and engaging. Totally worth checking out.
