Very unpopular review for this book, but it was not for me. I found it painfully boring with all the dialogue and so confusing with all the characters and POV switches. It’s like the author had to reach a page limit and went back in with random fillers after he finished writing it. The main characters were not lovable and honestly annoyed me. There were too many back stories or fillers that distracted from the main plot. The direction also kept changing as new data appeared. It lacked consistency, organization, and intrigue. Reviews on the cover deemed it a “pleasure to read”, and I disagree. It was a “struggle to read”. The humor also fell deaf on my ears as I just didn’t get it or catch it. I only plowed through because I cannot DNF a book if my life depended on it and we read it for book club and I wanted to see if it got better. Spoiler…. It did not. The ending of the book also fell apart for me. The author wanted to clearly trick his whole audience into not even possibly guessing a certain murder, and this just lead to a terrible, confusing, and honestly pointless ending. I hope the movie is better, but after reading this, I don’t have high hopes.
