Ham on Rye by Charles Bukowski
4.0

Surprisingly great coming-of-age read based on author's own life experience. Despite the ever-present brutal honesty, it's an easy and enjoyable read. I found it interesting to read about the realities of growing up in the U.S. in the first half of the 20th century in a poor immigrant family that tries to pretend they're something else. I guess by dedicating the book to 'all the fathers', the author might be having the last laugh or going for some sort of redemption.

Great writing, but I was missing some kind of ending or closure; therefore, it's a solid 4.5 from me. Highly recommend it if you want to read something simple and humane, but at the same time real and relatable.
