Woman 99 [Large Print] by Greer Macallister

3.0

This is the second book I've read from my @pageonebooks subscription, and while it was slow to start, I enjoyed it in the end!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Charlotte's parents send her sister Phoebe to an asylum that is supposed to help women who are "mad" like her - but Charlotte doesn't feel good about it & jumps off a pier to get herself anonymously committed to the same asylum. Once there, she realizes that some of the women are mentally ill, some are not and have been sent for being an inconvenience, and all are mistreated. About halfway through the book it becomes clear that things are more intertwined than it originally seemed - I wish that would've been clearer earlier, because things really picked up at that point! Still worth a read if any of the above topics interest you - overall, I enjoyed it.
