Gabriela Wiener is a gem of a writer. I read her book Sexologies a while back and this one is just as unflinchingly personal and reflective. In this book she explores the complexities of her heritage as a Peruvian descendant of Charles Wiener, an Austrian-born colonial explorer responsible for plundering Peru’s pre-Columbian artefacts and writing inherently racist things about the inhabitants of the countries he visited. There is some quite explicit sexual content in this book, so if that’s not your vibe maybe avoid this one but otherwise I highly recommend it!
