'Moonbound' by Robin Sloan is a sci-fantasty novel that follows one boy's journey influenced by wizards, talking animals, and dragons. I'm very conflicted about 'Moonbound.' I love the worldbuilding in this book. There are a number of really fascinating ideas expressed through the world that I found unique. Though the side characters are interesting, I was quite bored by the main character and the main plot line. It wasn't bad, I just wasn't particularly intrigued. This was especially frustrating given how fascinating many aspects of the world building were. There were so many possibilities for the plot and yet I found the one that was followed was the most straightforward. An interesting book with some fantastic worldbuilding and concepts but with a lackluster plot and main character.
