The Wilful Princess and the Piebald Prince by Robin Hobb
4.0
This was an exceptional novella. Very different for Robin Hobb, having read both Liveship Traders and the Farseer triology now. Like many of her books, it is told in first person, but this one is anything but slow. This tale covers events that occurred over many years, but even though it was relatively fast-paced for a Hobb tale, it did not fail to deliver many an emotional reaction from me. The themes in this are dark, and man, Hobb was quite bloodthirsty in this one.
Overall would really recommend for Farseer fans, it definitely added a lot of insight into the Wit and some Farseer line history. This tale is set in the Realm of the Elderlings though, so I would encourage readers to have read a couple of Farseer books before trying this one - I think the story will have a larger impact that way.
