The Night Shift by Alex Finlay

As I read more mystery thrillers lately, I’m coming to appreciate the short succinct chapters, the slow build, the multiple hidden motives and neuroses of all those involved.

Per the blurb, tragedy occurs twice and leaves behind all sorts of victims, the repercussions manifesting in various ways, shaping how a person deals with life and all the enumerate decisions they make.

This had good suspense as the reveals are gradually shown. There’s several complex protagonists here, not without their own setbacks both emotionally and physically. The reader easily becomes invested, discovering motives and long buried awful secrets.

An absorbing read, keeping me on my toes as redemption is found for some and new beginnings for others. Finlay for sure will be an author I’ll revisit!
