The Blacktongue Thief by Christopher Buehlman
4.0
When I started this, I fell instantly in love with the tone and style. I clicked with the character and loved the humour and banter, and especially the sarcastic remarks.
It's a really fun story that had me snorting and laughing and giggling away, but it's also pretty dark and grim, and there's plenty of gore and violence to be found as well. If you enjoy grey characters and dark humour, you'll be right at home.
If you don't like strong language and some innuendo, this will probably not be your favourite.
My one missing star us the plot being really disjointed, and at times feeling more episodic than one actual thread. It's obviously written like that as a stylistic choice, but I at times almost forgot where we were in the overall story, as we went in so many little "side quests" along the way.
Now this might not bea problem for everyone, but if have liked a bit more structure in the overarching storyline.
All in all this was still a fabulously entertaining story I enjoyed all th the at through, despite a gripe here and there.
