This was an entertaining read, but not much more. Despite the misleading subtitle, this book doesn't actually teach us anything and if Dunham has learned anything from her misadventures- she didn't choose to share it with us here. There were rare excerpts where I felt she described a feeling that I've experienced and hadn't been able to articulate with others. But all of that was interspersed with her self-importance (which we see she's had since a young age; Lena- always better and wiser than her peers) and example of privilege that few of us have. There is a very East coast flavor to her words which is both apparent and hard to pin down.

I had previously seen her movie Tiny Furniture before knowing who she was. It wasn't for me, but I'd read another of her books.
