Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo

3.0

Usually, in trilogies, the second installment is the best one. Not this one. I’m giving it three stars solely because of Nikolai, who was the best addition to this series. Other than that? Garbage. Too much Mal and not enough Darkling. Too much of Alina worrying about how Mal feels. Are we supposed to like this character? because he’s a total asshole for literally the entire book. Not once did I feel sympathy for his “plight”. Homeboy needed to get over himself instead of throwing pity parties.
The Darkling, on the other hand? “I've seen what you truly are," said the Darkling, "and I've never turned away. I never will. Can he say the same?” No he cannot! So true, bestie.
