hauntingly beautiful. captivating, raw, gut-wrenching. honestly no words for how mesmerizing this story is, and how devastated i am that book 2 is not even announced yet.
the tropes of forbidden love, he falls first, “who hurt you”, star crossed lovers in a slow burn romance all set in immersive and beautiful written world with a unique magic system are so well developed and crafted throughout the book - sarah a. parker absolutely killed it.
this book had me giggling kicking my feet blushing before we even found out his name 220 pages in - the chemistry was everything, each character beautifully written. ik i said my previous read was everything i craved following TOG, but THIS right here takes the crown on that. the way you fall in love with characters, the stunning, exceptional world building - your heart grows attached so quickly that you simply want to experience it yourself. 690 pages was absolutely not enough, and i need more.
few things i would love to see developed more in the second book (some of these points are a given bc we will need to learn more of raeve’s history so):
- more about fíur du ath and how raeve got involved with them
- more of veya and her story
- who tf fallon was and how she’s relevant in raeve’s life (mentioned ominously way too many times and my questions abt her just kept growing)
- dragons. (in a growing and more saturated market flooded with dragon books, wtmh offered a new take on dragon in such stories, and i would rlly love to have them more developed and integrated in the next book, which i expect will happen with raeve and lìla)
