Cry Wolf by Patricia Briggs
5.0

Alright I had no idea there were such good werewolf books out there! This one definitely flew to the top of my list because it was amazing! The story started off a bit confusing and it wasn't until a couple hundred pages in that I got the full gist of the plot and what exactly was going on. But looking back, I liked the way that happened because you pieced things together yourself, and start off hesitant and confused like the characters.

The author really did her research on the surrounding environment in Montana because I could clearly imagine the landscape and thick underbrush of the trees and forest as Anna and Charles walked through. I loved the Native American culture attached to Charles and the pack, and the way he's described through Anna's eyes. It was refreshing for a change to see that there was no instalove (as in so many YA paranormal series) or a quick change in romance a couple pages into the story from Anna and Charles' relationship. Everything is rough and territorial and downright "who's more dominant and manly" about these wolves but honestly I think that's the way it would be.

The pacing was nice, things were suddenly happening but when it comes to the paranormal that's not surprising. You get a ton of different paranormal references, from the werewolves (obviously) to ghosts and spirits, wizards and witches. Wow. I cannot wait to see what else is thrown at me and how much more world building will come from all these supernatural beings! Loved!
