I actually surprised myself by not enjoying this book as much as I did the first time I read it. With the nice slow development of relationships in the other two Bevelstoke books, I suppose the childhood love on Miranda's side and the who-even-knows-what-or-when-or-how on Turner's side just didn't work as well for me. Well written but fell a bit flat for me: I loved Miranda but never felt very strongly for the romance or Turner.
