This novel reminds me of Vegetarian by Han Kang and a little bit of Shirley Jackson. Rather than a crime novel, this reads more as a folk horror story from the perspective of one of the most interesting protagonist I've ever read!! I love unreliable narrators and Tokarczuk did an amazing job of deceiving the reader.
I will admit while this was intriguing and unlike anything else I've read, there are large sections where it's a little slow- I would recommend powering through it though because the last section is fulfilling!

Graphic: Animal cruelty, Animal death, Misogyny, Vomit, Murder
