The first half of all John Marrs' books make me think I will never reach the end. A burn so slow it takes literally half the book for the fire to even ignite. But once I finally push past that halfway point things get hot fast.
Unfortunately, I really didn't like Becca as a character and felt like Joe was not given a personality until the last 30 pages. However, like other novels of his, Marrs' antagonists are well done in the worst ways and I had to see it through.
