It was truly the long way home.

Magnolia and Beej went through so much and it was devastatingly beautiful and a long time coming. They have a relationship that is one in a million, and the way I balled my eyes out at the end?! I was fighting for my life.

Jessa understands how to screw with our hearts; her writing is so lyrical, and I don't think I've ever felt more connected to anything. It's not even that I've gone through what Magnolia and Beej have, but the way she wrote it allows you to feel so connected to these characters and their pain that it feels like your own. I just felt so many emotions reading because wow BJ Ballentine your growth… you had evolved into such a great character when you were only a year apart, and seeing how much he changed was truly the cherry on top for me.

I don't understand why we got that ending?!?!? I didn't need to be further emotionally damaged. The final 100 pages had me on a roller coaster of emotions, and just when I thought I was wrapping up this book on a high note, I ended up getting hit in the face with a sledgehammer. I should've known better. I should've been prepared, but I wasn't.

We did get to catch a few glimpses of Christian and Daisy, which has me eager to start the next book and Julian. I'm in love with him and eager to learn more about him beneath the tough guy persona he presents. I loved Julian's cameo in Magnolia; even though I knew it would never work out, I was secretly rooting for them the whole time.

This was easily a five-star read for me, a book that had me reading and engaged with all of the twists and turns and one hell of a cliffhanger... yep, I guess that meets my criteria for a damn good book.
